Farmer's Market
2-19-2005

I like going to this market because it's got a nice setting, I usually see people I know and there are craft vendors too. It is not one of the best markets for getting things for me in general, but can be every once in a while. Today I had quite a find with the caimito - at a good price & quite a few of them. ;-) The snow peas are unusual too...

$12 of Caimito:
The ones I picked were 2 for $1, and I got 22 of them (for $11). She gave me a free $1 sized one as a bonus.

$11 of Avocado & Snow Peas
$1 ripe smaller avo. is a fruity juicier type
$6 of creamy avocado @ $2 each
$4 of Snow Peas @ $2/bag

$2 of Red Bananas

$9+ of Celery - from HFS:
This is celery I got from the HFS that's up by the farmer's market that's held on this day. I like to stop there to see what they have, and get things that look better there than the other HFS. It is rare to find celery grown here as it's hard to grow here...

Raw Fish Scraps for Dog and Cat
Raw Fish Scraps - from Fish Mkt
I put this as a link for those vegans that would be offended or shocked by seeing the fish guts...

I usually stop by the fish market on my way back from this market too, as it's good timing to catch the scraps before they throw them out. I bring a container & they take them out of their trash bin & put it in there for me. It's free, but I give them $1 tip 'cause they have to wait on me and all. It's worth not having to touch the stuff, heh. When I get home I split it up between the dog and cat using a meat fork and sometimes knife. I do end up touching those to wash them afterwards, but luckily they don't smell too badly at that point...
